Project

Project code: 28DE107A18
Contract period: 01.10.2019 - 30.09.2024
Budget: 555,570 Euro
Purpose of research: Applied research
Keywords: digitalization

The Experimental Field’s objective ist to empower agricultural farms to identify their individual practical problems and enable both economic and ecologic evaluations of digital solutions offered on the market. Due to the knowledge transfer between science, education and training, politics and work practice in collaborative cooperation with the economy, a digital transformation in the agricultural economy based on a sustainable expertise management can be established. On this basis, innovation impulses for research and companies are created. Contrary to common, product-oriented business models in which the farm management is confronted with technical solutions of individual providers who search for fields of applications, the Experimental Field pursues the approach to transfer an agricultural problem into a technical solution by means of interdisciplinary, user-oriented cooperation. Based on the practical challenges of today’s agriculture, the Experimental Field focuses on the development and application of a digital material flow model that displays the data streams in the agricultural indoor and outdoor economy and enables their usage via compatible interfaces. In Particular, the requirements and expertise of agricultural operators are involved in order to align the data structure and volume with the practical problems. An infrastructure will be developed that not only displays the material flows along the agricultural value chain with their respective data requirements but also standardizes them in a common data dictionary. The agricultural value chain is influenced by different areas. Besides the direct influences of new R&D findings and the education and training as the operational framework for modern technologies in practice, the politics determine the actual effectivity of digital process chains with corresponding legislations.
