Establishment of a complete and new value chain in Bavaria from cultivation of Orris rhizomes to the production of valuable products. It is scheduled to realise and to evaluate the cultivation, the harvest and the refinement as an integrated processing chain from the farmer to the manufacturer of the final products. As a result, the project is very practically. The final products are valuable dried and processed Orris rhizomes, which are used from the pharmaceutical industry, in food & beverages and from the cosmetics and fragrance industrie. A further aim of the project is the scientific mentoring and intergrated risk analysis of the whole value added chain from the establishment of the new special culture over all processing steps up to the final products. For this purpose a software tool was developed and is available. Beyond that a new approach for testing and optimising new value added chains in the Bavarian agriculture should be pointed out.
