Biene4.0 wants to develop connected intelligent sensors and prepare them for market availability. The connected sensors should enable professional beekeepers, farmers, new and fun-driven beekeepers to deal with the bees - easier, - at lower cost and - in a more minimally invasive way than was previously usual. The intelligent sensor technology makes it possible to learn more about one's colony and the surroundings via the Internet without opening the bee hive. Beekeeping becomes easier and the result is lower mortality and higher vitality of the bee colonies with positive effects on the bee population and pollination performance. All data (temperature distribution in the hive, sound of the bees ...) are collected centrally via the Internet, combined and put into relation to each other. Freely available data (weather data, text analyses from social networks) are also included. The blending and evaluation of the measured data is based on Big Data technologies, image data are combined with mechanisms of artificial intelligence (AI) at the point of origin, the bee hive, into key figures relevant for the beekeeper. Sound recordings from the beehive are also automatically evaluated with AI and thus provide the beekeeper with further information on the condition of his colony. The evaluated data are fed back to the beekeepers via a data hub. Furthermore, alarm mechanisms are established which proactively inform the beekeeper about special incidents (e.g. vandalism, swarm preparation, lack of food). Statistics on all beekeepers involved will also be processed. A beekeeper always remains in control of his data and decides which data is used and how.
