Development of new applications and uses for the renewable raw material wood and bark
Project
Project code: vTI-HTB-08-2.6
Contract period: 01.01.1995
- 31.01.2009
Purpose of research: Applied research
Providing property profiles about lesser known wood species or plantation-grown timber may contribute to giving recommendations about their utilization. By this means, a better utilization of available wood resources, particularly in tropical and subtropical regions can be obtained.
Wood modification-treatments facilitate an improvement of the wood properties of native and non durable wood species for developing new applications and a sustainable use. Furthermore, the utilization of wood chips and fibres in wood composite materials are proofed in order to provide reliable data on biological and mechanical properties of this new materials.
