Project
Project code: EIP-Agri-THÜ-2017-BPD01
Contract period: 01.01.2017
- 31.12.2019
Budget: 134,001 Euro
Purpose of research: Applied research
Keywords: soil, product/service
Pahren Agrar Kooperation plans to increase production and processing of hemp for fiber supply. During the production process about 25% of the raw material apply as residues. A economic successful option of utilisation does not exist today but is required to increase the production capacity. Therefore, the project target is to identify an innovative and future-oriented utilisation pathway for the residues. Possible alternative utilisation pathways shall be investigated and the technical and economic feasibility of the pathways will be evaluated. Mainly the production and use of peat substitutes shall be investigated practically and compared with alternative utilisation pathways. Marketing options and necessary product performance will be defined and analysed. In the case of satisfying project results the next step shall be the construction of a pilot unit.
