Project
Project code: EIP-Agri-THÜ-2020-LGMTH
Contract period: 01.01.2020
- 31.12.2022

Purpose of research: Applied research
Keywords: farming equipment, animal husbandry
Plasmapheresis is a procedure used to obtain blood plasma. Until now the procedure on the stud farm has mainly been done manually and in several stages. In addition, the return of the corpuscular blood components is decoupled from the blood withdrawal process. The aim is therefore to establish an animal-friendly process in which blood can be taken through a one-step system and the return is an integral part of the process. In the pre-project, it was possible to provide an apparatus technology that largely meets the time and volume requirements. However, it was not possible to keep the erythrocytes vital, so that the aim of an one-step system was not achieved. Finding a solution that is suitable for routine use is focused in the planned project. Methodical approach are computer simulations that lead to constructive solutions. The consideration of the highest possible standard of animal welfare will consistently characterize the planned project.
