Objective of the operational group was to further improve the extraction of proteins from horse serum, concerning animal welfare and economic efficiency. Since serum is a highly complex medium with a large number of proteins and blood components, an innovative upstream process is required, whereby interfering components can be depleted to obtain an optimal starting material for the extraction.
