AbDü - From waste to fertilizer. The project aims to efficiently use agricultural side streams from the vegetable production and process as fertilizer. For this purpose, a fully automated bioreactor is being developed, which utilizes processed agricultural residues to convert them into fertilizer using the Black Soldier Fly. This conversion is carried out through the consumption of residues by fly larvae. The bioreactor autonomously separates the larvae and ensures hygienic processing of the fly frass within a closed system. An additional process extracts chitin form the flies and converts it into chitosan-based plant biostimulant. The project seeks to optimize the fertilizer composition based on the quantity and nature of the residues. Both the quantities of residues and the produced fertilizer are subject to scientific examination. Practical Partners provide the necessary residues, deploy the mobile bioreactor flexibly at various locations and test the fertilizer on different vegetable crops compared to conventional cultivation.
