Project

Climate change

This project contributes to the research aim 'Climate Change'. What are the sub-aims? Take a look:
Climate change

Project code: EIP-Agri-NI-2023-BFWWKW
Contract period: 01.01.2023 - 31.12.2025
Budget: 66,981 Euro
Purpose of research: Applied research
Keywords: soil, forestry, water, climate change

The chances of success of direct seeding in the forest are to be demonstrated by means of natural and sustainable biotechnological products as well as planting methods. For this purpose, in the project seedlings are not used as usual in the context of afforestation of free areas, but prepared seeds in combination with a special water-storing soil preparation. The project is scheduled to start in the second half of 2023. Planting on the two test plots will take place at the end of 2023 and subsequently the test plots will be monitored for three years to measure germination at the beginning and later the growth of the plants. This is to provide a clear assessment of whether direct seeding with the support of soil amendments can be an effective alternative in reforestation projects.
