Project code: EIP-Agri-BW-2022-LM
Contract period: 01.01.2022 - 31.12.2024
Budget: 589,444 Euro
Purpose of research: Applied research
Keywords: food industry

Regional pig farming is under strong pressure due to global competition. This development is driven by the global supply and producers in other countries, from whom hardly any or no sustainability measures are required. This puts regional production at a competitive disadvantage, as their sustainability performance is currently not rewarded on the market, or only to a very limited extent. Which sustainability Services are and can be provided by regional pig farming and regional supply chains? For this purpose, the Services are to be identified and evaluated. In a further step, these are then put into value, i.e. a market price is set based on the costs of production. Stable supply chains are also fundamental for regional production. In a further step, examples are used to assess how these must be designed so that stable, sustainable supply relationships and chains are possible. The aim is to show the Companies how regional sustainable pork production can succeed.
