Status quo analysis: identification of research needs for organic farming
Project
Project code: 2810OE036
Contract period: 15.12.2010
- 31.07.2011
Budget: 6,978 Euro
Purpose of research: Applied research
The aim of the project is to provide an overview of existing long-term field experiments in organic farming in Germany and neighboring countries or the same soil-climate areas. Long-term field experiments allow to map responses of soils in different management methods and measures over a longer period and thus present even slower changes. This is especially important for organic farming, as short-term options for action is limited and therefore the knowledge of the effects of various measures on the soils of central importance.
So far, however, existing long-term field experiments in organic farming were not adequately recorded and evaluated, so any existing results can not be sufficiently utilized. Based on this, it is unclear which areas already have enough results are available and where further research is needed, which should have long-term field trials or other research projects will be covered. These questions will be clarified by the status quo analysis of long-term field experiments.
