At the University of Bayreuth, a priority area of 'consumer rights' is established as a permanent fixture. The professorship is the importance of consumer legislation should be strengthened by establishing a scientific platform for consumer rights. The activity spectrum arises from the main goal 7 of the Research Plan 2008 of the BMELV in the field of consumers' economic welfare. The research and analysis are therefore the first typology of the instruments of consumer protection. Are then treated to mix of private 1.the legal and public instruments of consumer protection, 2 the distribution of the standardization and enforcement responsibilities between the levels of Europe - federal - state, 3 the relationship between individual, collective and sovereign law enforcement, 4th the question of consumer protection through consumer information or by market regulation. These are scientific papers on the topics of digital world, customer privacy, liberalized markets (telecommunications and energy), financial services, consumer information law, law enforcement and health care market perform. By the end of the grant period, a causative disciplinary textbook for consumer rights are issued. The work on a handbook for consumer law should be so far advanced that a publication is likely to 5 years after the start of the grant period.
