Collaborative project: Development of innovative vaccines for poultry for simplified application (innoVAK4DART) - Subproject 3
Project
Project code: 2817600712
Contract period: 01.05.2014
- 30.04.2017
Budget: 175,947 Euro
Purpose of research: Experimental development
"In this project, existing methods (MALDI-TOF-MS, 16S rRNA typing) and new molecular biological methods (cgMLST, VNTR-PCR) were further developed on a representative number of Ornithobacterium rhinotracheale - (ORT) and Bordetella (B.) avium - isolates, enabling rapid and specific diagnostics of pathogenic microorganisms. In addition, new inactivation methods (physical, biochemical) were established and applied to the production of autogenous vaccines, the effectiveness of which has been proven in numerous immunization experiments. In an established immunization and challenge experiment for B. avium, it was also shown for the first time that inactivated vaccines that were given oculonasally led to a reduced colonization of the trachea. Within the framework of this project, essential foundations for the development of innovative vaccines suitable for mass application could thus be
created."
