Project
Project code: 28RZ3IP004
Contract period: 30.04.2014
- 30.09.2016
Budget: 131,401 Euro
Purpose of research: Experimental development
The project aims to give an answer on emerging challenges of the pork market, e.g. the need on reducing medicaments in animal husbandry. The objective is to develop an animal health advisory scheme, based on the results from the project 'healthy animals - healthy food'. Partners within the cooperation project are Fachhochschule Südwestfalen (University of Applied Sciences), Westfälisch-Lippischer Landwirtschaftsverband (Farmers Association of Westfalia), Erzeugerring Westfalen (Consulting agency for pig farmers), Landwirtschaftskammer NRW (Chamber of Agriculture NRW), IQ-Agrar Service (database management) and Veterinarians as subcontractors of the university. The work plan of 30 months includes: the improvement of an animal health data base, the testing of an innovative advisory service related to animal health in pig farming and the implementation of a marketing concept. The partners work closely with the farmers and make use of the synergies between the different organizations involved in animal health advisory services.
