Project code: 2814901915
Contract period: 01.06.2017 - 31.05.2019
Budget: 350,603 Euro
Purpose of research: Applied research
Keywords: Sustainable plant protection

In the AMU-Bot project, an automated, intelligent and economical solution for weed control in nursery crops was developed to interrupt the competition for nutrients between weeds and crops, especially in young growth stages. Building on the results of the "AgriApps" project, a robust and electrified mobile platform was developed that is capable of moving within planting rows in nursery crops. This is achieved by detecting the planting rows, as well as the crops, and distinguishing them from weeds. Through this differentiation, the planting axes of the trees can be determined, the spaces between them can be detected and a manipulator for weed removal can be controlled. The manipulator mechanically removes the weeds in the intra-row area in the immediate vicinity of the crop plants.
