The study aims to describe and analyze the current status of potentials and barriers to the employment of people with disablilities in green jobs. To improve the quality of life for disabled persons the UN founded the committee on the rights of persons with disabilities. In their convention on the rights of persons with disabilities which is also signed by Germany it is claimed that the access for disabled persons to the general labor market needs to be simplified.By describing and evaluating the potentials and obstacles in the general labor market for disabled people it is the aim of this study to take measures to fulfill the demand of the convention. As there is a need for a valid data basis for persons with disabilities in green professions, literature is evaluated and organizations, companies, affected persons, and experts are interviewed. The results show that it was already tried to include persons with disabilities in the labor market in the field of agriculture. However, these jobs are mostly in social and clerical institutions as well as in the second labor market. Depending on what disability a person has, disabled persons are suitable for different kinds of jobs. While persons with cognitive or psychological disorders need a job that is characterized by safety and consistency, persons with other kinds of disabilities are more often abled to do a diverse job. Due to the interview’s results, it became apparent that there is indeed potential for persons with disabilities in green professions, but also multiple obstacles that need to be overcome to create a successful inclusion of disabled persons in the labor market.
