Selective detection of bacteria in raw milk by flow cytometry (raw milk microbiota)
Project
Project code: MRI-MBT-08-1040 Rohmilch-Mikrobiota
Contract period: 01.08.2018
- 31.07.2019
Purpose of research: Applied research
Keywords: milk quality, flow cytometry
In order to ascertain milk quality flow cytometry has been used as a routine method to count bacterial (and somatic) cells in milk according to ISO and § 64 LFGB standards. Research activities with an existing device of BD FACSCalibur in the Department of Microbiology and Biotechnology will be performed in order to establish methods for the selective detection of bacteria, e.g. spoilage bacteria, in raw milk. Moreover, the implementation of live/dead assays and the detection of viable but not culturable (VBNC) bacteria, e.g. Campylobacter, are forwarded.
