Collaborative project: Development of indicators to assess the productivity, intensity of use and vulnerability of agricultural soils in Germany. Subproject 1 (SOIL-DE)

Project

Project code: 281B301716, JKI-PB-08-1263
Contract period: 01.09.2018 - 31.10.2021
Budget: 364,294 Euro
Purpose of research: Applied research
Keywords: resource protection, resource efficiency, risk management, precision farming, evaluation, data collection, crop production, prevention, monitoring, digital world, climate (climate relevance, climate protection, climate change)

"In the project SOIL‐DE, indicators for the assessment of the yield capacity, land
use intensity and the vulnerability of agriculturally used soils in Germany were
developed. Further, and for the first time, Germany‐wide, spatially explicit
information on qualitative and quantitative soil loss was made available. Using
high‐resolution satellite data time series, novel methods for an extension and
specification of existing soil information, such as on soil organic carbon content
and soil texture, were demonstrated.
For that purpose, geospatial data (e.g. terrain models, soil maps, climate and
weather data), data from the European LUCAS surveys, historical satellite data
from the LANDSAT archive, and current sentinel satellite data and services
(CLMS) from the European Copernicus program were used as data basis.
Geodata products generated in SOIL‐DE project can accessed as web services to
interested users via a browser‐based WebViewer (https://www.soilde.
eomap.de/)."
