Project code: EIP-Agri-MP-2016-LPPG02
Contract period: 01.01.2016 - 31.12.2018
Budget: 268,463 Euro
Purpose of research: Applied research
Keywords: farming practice/activity, plant production and horticulture, pest/disease control

For several years the occurrence of the yellow wilt in Germany and other European countries like France and Italy is a big problem in the cultivation of lamb’s lettuce which can even lead to existence-threatening dimensions for producers. The symptoms of the yellow wilt occur in open field production as well as in covered production systems, especially in glasshouses. So far there are no strategies to control the yellow wilt in a sustainable and long-term way, and also its causes remain unexplained. The objectives of the operational group (OG) should be to find an innovative solution for the problem of the yellow wilt on lamb’s lettuce in Hesse without the application of chemical herbicides and to establish a think-tank and communication platform concerning the treatment of the yellow wilt. In the future a constant, constructive and practice-oriented exchange of knowledge and solution approaches should take place to adapt to continuously new experiences and changed production conditions.
