Rapid molecular detection of important transboundary viral animal diseases

Transboundary diseases are epidemic diseases that are highly contagious or transmissible and have the potential for very rapid spread, irrespective of national borders, causing serious socio-economic and possibly public health consequences. This study will investigate the spreading of TADs in animal farms using new advanced molecular techniques together with the detection of viral antigens in cell culture systems and serological tests. The diagnostic investigations will be performed by RT-PCR, multiplex PCR, microarray chips and gene sequencing as well as new pen-side tests for rapid detection of virus.
