In organic farming, the market share of varieties from organic breeding programs is low. However, organic varieties have some notable advantages over conventional cultivars. In addition to special resistances, especially against seed-borne diseases, these advantages also include better adaptation to the availability of nutrients under organic cultivation conditions. Finally, organically bred varieties are characterised by their special nutritional quality. One possible reason for their low market share is the inadequately developed structures for seed multiplication of organically bred varieties. These in turn are mainly due to economic and practical risks, especially in the first stages of seed multiplication. The innovative approach of this project aims to improve the availability and quality of cereal seeds and varieties from organic breeding programs. A fundamental reorganisation and expansion of the existing structures for seed multiplication is planned for this purpose. By integrating the entire value chain, comprehensive solutions are to be found for breeding goals, multiplication processes and marketing.
