The aim of the project is the development of an online tool that for the first time enables farmers to make decisions based on local weather information in Schleswig-Holstein. With more accurate weather data characterizing the field-specific situation, farmers can e.g. optimize fertilization and crop protection according to the latest findings. Based on an existing prototype, the OG wants to test and develop a system for recording local weather. With the testing on practice farms practical questions are worked on, such as e.g. requirements for site, instrumentation and maintenance, as well as the comparison of locally collected weather data with reference weather. The findings form fundamentals e.g. for the optimization of fertilization, plant and water protection. The results serve as a recommendation for a uniform standard that integrates data from private weather stations into the nationwide agrometeorological monitoring network. This will create the conditions for a regional demonstration measurement network.
