Production processes

Project code: EIP-Agri-SH-2018-PGBTSchKB
Contract period: 01.01.2018 - 31.12.2018
Budget: 295,203 Euro
Purpose of research: Applied research
Keywords: plant production and horticulture, land cover type, pest/disease control

The aim of the project is the development of site-adapted strategies for the prevention and / or control of the rough-stalked meadow grass, which is the cause of low yields and poor forage quality of grassland. Based on the status quo observation, measures for controlling the rough-stalked meadow grass are tried on practical farms in the landscapes Marsh, Sandy Upland, and Eastern Hillside. Additionally, a trial is planned to record the competitive power of different grass species and mixes against the rough-stalked meadow grass. At the end of the project the current status of the spread of the rough-stalked meadow grass will be known, the drivers in the spreading will have been identified and effective strategies for avoiding and fighting it will have been developed. These results are taken into account when developing a free online tool for farmers that estimates the risk of spreading of the rough-stalked meadow grass and recommends measures to avoid and fight it as well as suggesting competitive grass mixes for reseeding.
