New and innovative drugs are urgently needed for the treatment of infectious diseases. Currently there is a disconnection between the preliminary identification of biological targets and the production of viable effective treatments. Promising candidates are not progressed into animal models to reach proof-of-principle stage and attract industry attention. In this project a research driven platform will be installed that will try to overcome this gap. Interesting drug candidates isolated by members of InfectControl 2020 will be further characterized and proof-of-principle studies will be initiated. Successful candidates will then be of interest for industrial uptake and translation into viable effective treatments.
