The research and development project will develop a monitoring and data management system that will enable the recording and evaluation of pests and their antagonists. It will additionally identify suboptimal climatic conditions in pot or container cultures of ornamental plant cultivation in greenhouses or open-air sites. Data acquisition will be carried out by mobile monitoring swarms that migrate with the cultures. The monitoring takes place using several smart checkpoints, where small, yellow-colored sticky traps are incorporated onto plastic pots, together with digital imaging equipment, climate sensors and a transmitter. The Checkpots automatically send the recorded data to a server-based AI recommender system. Like normal plants, the networked Checkpots travel with the culture sets through all transport, cultivation and work processes, thus enabling manageable, continuous, culture- and set-specific and, above all, practical monitoring of intensive cultures.
