In the current debate about achieving the climate protection goals of the Federal Republic of Germany, supplying consumers with regionally and climate-friendly produced food is playing an increasing role. Organic farming in particular is very labour-intensive - especially for smaller farms - and therefore often cannot compete with large agricultural corporations. In order to maintain the regional diversity of the small farms and to improve local supply, it is necessary to develop individually tailored solutions for each farm. However, this is not currently happening, as modern technical solutions based on artificial intelligence and/or robotics are usually only conceived for large farms and also often require a very high investment volume. However, with the comparatively large number of small and micro enterprises, there is an enormous overall potential for digitalisation, which must be adaptable to individual circumstances. Within the framework of the funding, we will develop concepts that enable the use of a semi- to fully autonomous modular electric robot platform based on mobile outdoor robots. Through modularity and the use of low-cost or off-the-shelf components and specially developed sensors, the platform will be made configurable for different requirements. This makes it possible for users with limited financial means to use high technology in agriculture. Scenarios for supporting agriculture in the areas of poultry farming, monitoring and pastureland are to be investigated and will be implemented prototypically.
