Saxon pig farms are to be supported and accompanied in the establishment of an 'action plan for the renunciation of tail-docking' in practice. The project will focus on the following questions: 1. how high is the prevalence of SINS-associated changes in body regions of suckling piglets, which operational influencing factors exist and what does the diagnosis mean for the animals´ further life? 2. can the detection of SINS in suckling piglets be (partially) automated and objectified by imaging technology? 3. what influence does the feed composition for sows as well as for piglets during weaning and fattening have on the occurrence of SINS?
