Metabolite profiling-assisted elucidation of Metazachlor resistance in a tolerant camomile population
Project
Project code: JKI-ÖPV-08-1434
Contract period: 01.01.2020
- 24.12.2024
Purpose of research: Applied research
Herbicide resistance is an increasing problem in plant protection. In this project we elucidate the molecular cause of non-target-resistance by metabolite profiling of tolerant and sensitive camomile populations in a collaborative project with JKI institute A (project A-1236). Relative levels of metazachlor and its derivatives are quantified in an untargeted mode using UHPLC/ESI-QTOFMS. The data are used to reconstruct metabolic pathways, whose activation may lead to reduced active metazachlor levels in the resistant population. The identification of the involved enzymes/transcription factors via homology searches should lead to candidate genes with polymorphisms causative for resistance.
