Development and evaluation of strategies for sustainable crop production
Project
Project code: JKI-SF-08-1233
Contract period: 01.01.2020
- 31.12.2025
Purpose of research: Inventory & Assessment
Cropping systems face growing demands regarding environmental sustainability, product quality and land use efficiency, while they are at the same time challenged by global change. This leads to an increasing need for the development and evaluation of strategies for sustainable crop production. In this regard we follow an integrated research approach, which builds on a versatile data base including official statistics as well as own farm survey and field experiment data. By applying complementary statistical and model based approaches, including crop growth modeling, regression analysis and mathematical programming methods, we investigate productivity, resource use efficiency as well as effectiveness and cost efficiency of adaptation methods. By employing models we are able to assess systems behavior under current and future climatic conditions, and develop respective adaptation strategies.
