Molecular genetic characterization of a reference collection of raspberry cultivars using SSR markers (HimSoGen)
Project
Project code: JKI-ZO-08-4241
Contract period: 01.06.2021
- 31.05.2022
Purpose of research: Applied research
The Bundessortenamt (BSA) has a living collection of about 200 raspberry cultivars at the testing station Wurzen. A portion of this collection is component of the German Genebank Obst (DGO) and is maintained and evaluated at this location. Furthermore, the collection serves as a reference for the BSA in testing tasks.
The aim of this project is to genotype the entire raspberry cultivar collection at Wurzen with a defined SSR marker set. Using technical and biological replicates, the method will be evaluated and improved for robustness. Genetic fingerprints will be generated from all cultivars in the collection. The data set obtained will be used to verify whether the method is suitable for authenticity determination and identity verification of raspberry cultivars. In this case, the generated data can be used as a reference for future analyses. An establishment of the method at the BSA is intended in case of success. For this purpose, the genotyping work at the JKI will be accompanied by BSA staff to enable knowledge transfer.
