Purpose of research: Applied research
Principal objective is the increased profitability of annual caraway (Carum carvi) for a sustainable improvement of area under cultivation in Germany. This is the aim also and especially in the period of climate change. To reach this it is necessary to develop high yielding lines with high amount of essential oil for pharmaceutical uses. Breeding lines will be developed for summer annual as well as winter annual growing.
