Intelligent decision making to preserve fruit quality while reducing energy consumption
Project
Project code: EIP-Agri-BW-2019-LPTPPG
Contract period: 01.01.2019
- 31.12.2021
Budget: 167,100 Euro
Purpose of research: Applied research
Keywords: farming practice/activity, plant production and horticulture general
The storabiltiy of fruit is determined by the time of harvest, amongst other factors. Data on the condition of the fruit is already gathered, however until now a meaningful link between pre-harvest factors, storage settings and current market price has not been established. The objective of this EIP project is to develop decision making tools in order for farmers to optimize selling time while simultaneously reducing energy cost. These tools will connect all automatically collected data. This will offer farmers cultivar-specific recommendations concerning optimum storage conditions and duration, as well as operational time for storage room machinery.
