In the German-Dutch border region, you find the hotspot of outside production of ornamental plants. Specialized companies produce plants on a high technical level for the European market. The areas under cultivation particulately are some kilometres distant from the local place of the company. High-qualified employees have to control the crops several times a day with respect of irrigation, temperature, stage of nutrition or different stress factors at the plants. The situation during the summer 2018 and 2019 showed that heavy conditions of heat and aridity cause stress at the plants and necessitate frequently controlling during a day. A breakdown for example of the automatically irrigation system under this conditions can cause a lost of hundreds of thousands Euros in a few hours!
The international team of Nursery Stock Growing Support System wants to develop a sensor-supported control-system that measures different parameters on the field and at the plants and sends the values to the grower, presented on an app-based surface on his mobile or tablet.
