Production processes

Project code: A02/2021
Contract period: 01.01.2022 - 31.12.2023
Budget: 81,974 Euro
Purpose of research: Applied research
Keywords: claws, legs, dairy cows, animal welfare

Various animal and environmental factors can be cited as the cause of claw diseases. The housing systems and the feeding of the cows are involved here in particular. In addition to the acidotic stress caused by feeding, the course of the body condition can also be cited as a cause of claw problems. This is where the project should start and, in addition to evaluating the claws and limbs, also analyze the feeding (using the various tools from feeding controlling) and the course of BCS and RFD). For this purpose, the data should be recorded as precisely as possible in the LLG Iden and 2-3 additional farms should be found. The aim is to describe the effects of animal and environment-related influencing factors and thus to promote the welfare quality of the cows and a further optimization of animal welfare in milk production.
