Digestate fertilisation and environmentally friendly conversion methods for cup plant
Project
Project code: G2/N/21/07
Contract period: 01.01.2022
- 31.12.2024
Purpose of research: Applied research
Cup plant (Silphium perfoliatum L.) is used as an alternative substrate for biogas production, fertilising the permanent crop with fermentation residues makes sense. Current trials at the TFZ show that the nitrogen utilisation of digestate applications still needs to be improved and further optimisation approaches will be investigated. Initial experience has been gained in the conversion of cup plant stands but various problems have also been identified on which further research is needed. Appropriate procedures should reduce the use of herbicides and prevent soil erosion so that the highest possible environmental compatibility is achieved in the entire cultivation process of cup plant.
