Model and Demonstration Project for Digital and Integrated Crop Management (MuD-DIP) Exploiting arable farming potentials by networking digital infrastructures and applications in a sustainable farming system (MuD IPB-Ackerbau)
Project
Project code: 2821ABS130
Contract period: 01.11.2022
- 31.08.2025
Budget: 517,327 Euro
Purpose of research: Applied research
Keywords: crop production, integrated plant protection, cultivation, crop protection, plant health, precision farming, catch crop
The objective of the outlined MuD project is the implementation of a sustainable, resource-saving and digital arable farming of the future under the condition of stable contribution margins and under real production conditions. The integrated, sustainable and above all digital crop production is to be achieved by networking the existing digital systems and infrastructure (ZEPP/ISIP e.V. / GeoBox infrastructure) as well as their intersection with operational data. The implementation of integrated crop protection as well as the basic determination of fertilizer requirements is carried out digitally and is accompanied by digital decision-making aids. Digital forecasting models for diseases and pests provide permanent and area-specific information on the course of infestation and form an effective basis for necessary control decisions at farm level. Digitally processed monitoring data from the official advisory service and the farm flank the results of the forecasts, with the farm surveys also being available to other farms in real time thanks to the digital infrastructure. Optimal harrowing dates for mechanical tillage are derived on an area-specific basis by calculating soil moisture. The application of crop protection products is also digitally supported by the Production Equipment Application Manager (PAM). The above-mentioned measures are to be carried out in a stable and economical arable farming system, which has been optimized through the use of variety resistance and other arable farming measures as well as the increase in crop diversity and the expansion of crop rotations.
