Diversity, precision and networking in plant production - new paths for Brandenburg's agriculture (MuD IPB-Ackerbau)
Project
Project code: 2821ABS150
Contract period: 01.09.2022
- 31.08.2025
Budget: 117,333 Euro
Purpose of research: Applied research
Keywords: crop production, fertilization, integrated plant protection, lupin, crop protection, plant health, precision farming, wheat, oil and fibre plants
Agriculture and the food industry are important pillars of the economy in Brandenburg. However, the natural site conditions pose particular challenges for agriculture in the region, especially for crop farming. These consist of finding and implementing diverse forms of management that are precisely tailored to the location for the difficult and increasingly challenging natural conditions, with which the environment, climate and biodiversity are protected and the farms can generate an appropriate income. As part of the project, a concept of measures combined with a transfer concept will be implemented in and with farms throughout Brandenburg. The concept of measures for new methods of integrated crop production includes various fields of action of the arable farming strategy: - Crop diversity: the cultivation of grain legumes (chickpeas, lentils) and fibre plants for multiple use (hemp, through-grown silphia), - Digitalisation: sensor-based nutrient and humus monitoring, precise fertilisation and precise crop protection, - Fertilisation: precise liming and precise N fertilisation, - Plant protection: mechanical weed control and precise plant protection. The measures are interrelated and also contribute to the Fields of Action biodiversity and climate adaptation. In addition to synergies between the measures, conflicts of objectives can also arise, which are also to be addressed in this project.
