The aim of the project is the state-wide provision of an instrument for the assessment of animal welfare on horse farms in Schleswig-Holstein. Among other things, the tool will be used to carry out and document the legally required on-farm self-monitoring and to optimize individual horse husbandry. The tool will support livestock farmers to get rid of the operational blindness and thus enable a positive development of the farms. The focus is on an operational weak point analysis. In this way, fundamental risks to animal welfare can be identified at an early stage and the increasingly emotional debate on the subject can be objectified.
