Collaborative project: Optimization Septoria tritici and Stagonospora nodorum control in winter wheat by implementation a calculation module of variety resistance – Subproject 1

Project

Project code: 2814203306
Contract period: 01.05.2007 - 30.04.2010
Budget: 189,085 Euro
Purpose of research: Experimental development

Yield losses in wheat caused by epidemics of Septoria tritici increased extremely. Fungicides are most effective if sprayed close to an infection event. SEPTRI2 is a new simulation model to predict the occurrence and development of disease severity of S. tritici by using weather variables. It simulates the time of the primary infection as well as the disease severity for the upper four leaf layers. The model focuses on the simulation of the disease development of S. tritici in a range of winter wheat varieties differing in susceptibility SEPTRI2 model calculates the growth rate of the fungus depending on temperature. The pycnidial density and the duration of the incubation and latent periods are calculated for every variety class. The validation of the biological simulation model was conducted with the data of numerous nationwide field samples in Germany during the years 2007 to 2009 with 223 records from other German federal states. The provision of the model SEPTRI2 will be done on http://www.isip.de at the internet.
