Collaborative project: Development of a device for a fully automated wire suspension in hops – Subproject 1
Project
Project code: 2815301507
Contract period: 01.01.2008
- 30.04.2010
Budget: 34,946 Euro
Purpose of research: Experimental development
'Within the joined project carried out by the private limited Company Soller and Bavarian State Research Center for Agriculture the previously patented concept of a device for fully automated attachment of the support wires, was improved and optimized. The main advantage of the novel device in comparison to the manual method are the minimised risk of accident and the physically stressful work is alleviated and owing the automation the task can be performed even under less favorable weather conditions. The optimization of the device was carried out using recent design methods such as digital prototyping. For online data acquisition, the prototype was equipped with sensors for measurement of relevant parameters and appropriate software solution was designed. The project resulted with a fully functional prototype, which has been tested in field trials since 2010 showing promising results in terms of labor-efficiency. An average area capacity between 0.21 ha -0.23 ha/h was achieved.
