Establishment of an efficient regeneration system for protoplasts of Hydrangea ssp. as first prerequisite for the utilization of somatic hybridisation for creation new genetic variability of Hydrangea
Project
Project code: JKI-ZGO-08-038
Contract period: 01.07.2008
- 31.12.2011
Purpose of research: Applied research
The project is aimed at prividing of new methods for breeding research of Hydrangea. Until now, there are only few findings to the in vitro culture of hydrangeas. With the protoplast culture uncharted scientific terrain will be entered. The project aims at the establishment of an efficient culture in vitro of different Hydrangea genotypes. These plants in vitro should be used as base material for the protoplast isolation. Hydrangea forms a variety of secondary metabolites. It is to attempt as well as suitable conditions for the meristem culture also as for the isolation of stable protoplasts following by their regeneration. The parameters should be optimized preventing inhibition due to secondary metabolites.
