Collaborative project: development of tools for the assurance of genetic quality of breeding programmes(QA @ Breeding) - Subproject 1
Project
Project code: 2813502808
Contract period: 15.10.2009
- 31.03.2013
Budget: 177,158 Euro
Purpose of research: Experimental development
A set of software tools were developed in the QS@Breedings project with the objective to enhance competetiveness of breeding programs. Based on inputs and outputs of routine genetic evaluations, a software pipeline (GePipe) is automatically parameterized and executed with a minimum of manual intervention. As outputs, GePipe delivers a complete analysis of the genetic evaluation: a population report (PopRep), analysis around breeding value estimation (AroundBLUP), aggregate genotypes (AGen), monitoring of BLUPs over time (EvolveBLUP), the modelling and optimization of breeding schemes (OptBS), and the final publication of breeding values on the Web (ZwISSS). The automated process of GePipe was at the center of the '6th International Workshop on Data Management and Genetic Evaluation in Swine' as well as the II. ZPLAN-Workshop. Furthermore, the system has been presented to the national and international animal breeding community in a number of publications.
