Development of sample clean-up procedures preparing GC-C-IRMS measuremens of residues and contaminants in food
Project
Project code: BfR-LMS-02-5Z-004
Contract period: 01.01.2002
- 31.12.2007
Purpose of research: Basic research
The measurement of stabile isotope ratios of carbon and oxygen by means of GC-C-IRMS (Gas Chromatographie-Combustion-Isotope Ratio Mass Spectrometry) demands a thoroughly developed sample clean-up leading to a baseline separation of the analytes of interest from matrix compounds during gaschromatography. Due to the low concentrations of residues and contaminants in food this is a not only a qualitative task, the sample clean-up has also to lead to a fortification of the analyte. From the manifold of available modern instrumental cleanup procedures (ASE, SPE, HPLC) appropriate ones have to be optimised and finnally applied.
