Quantifying the water use of energy crops
Project
Project code: JKI-PB-08-0066
Contract period: 01.01.2008
- 31.12.2020
Purpose of research: Applied research
In light of an expected general warming and increasing summer drought, crops with a high water use efficiency level are continuing to increase in importance. In this project Sudan grass hybrids, fodder sorghum and silage maize are compared with regard to their water use efficiency. The experiment is conducted under a foil tunnel at different soil water content in order to answer the question whether Sorghum species represent production alternatives to maize under drought conditions.
