Purpose of research: Applied research
The extent of nitrous oxide emissions from and the changes in the soil organic carbon pools of agricultural soils have to be estimated annually depending on the different ways of agricultural land use, in order to fulfil the report duties of Germany due to the Convention on Climate Change and the ?Kyoto? protocol. All regulations regarding the establishment of inventories given hereto in the official documents must be followed. Best available data for Germany must be used though. After preparation of a conceptual study, the future procedures to follow for this task shall be worked out in close accordance with the Federal ministry of consumer protection, food and agriculture (BMVEL). Up to this time, preliminary annual reports have to be prepared and delivered to the Federal Environmental Agency (UBA)
