Biogenesis and maintenance of plant vacuoles
Project
Project code: TP A06
Contract period: 01.07.2011
- 30.06.2015
Budget: 510,526 Euro
Purpose of research: Basic research
Vacuoles are major storage organelles and they are important for seed maturation, fruit development and rhizome growth. They are also essential for plant growth by contributing to expansion growth. In spite of their apparent importance, vacuole biogenesis and maintenance in plants are not yet well explored and understood. In the proposed project, we want to elucidate the molecular mechanisms underlying the biogenesis and maintenance of this dynamic organelle by analyzing vacuole fusion defective mutants and the small GTPase RAB7;G from Arabidopsis.
