Purpose of research: Applied research

The aim of this project is to describe the evolution of demand for products of organic farming. For this, a reporting system be established to the shopping behavior in organic products, which includes the main products and business types. The Eco-demand should be made transparent for all market participants. Selected product groups are represented on the GfK Household Panel and in all retail outlets (retail, trade, health food shops, organic supermarkets, food stores, producers). The shopping center distributions with the help of the Special Panels (Project 02OE367) were validated and adjusted. In the case of bulk products, which are covered by codebook, it is ensured that the will of the households mistakenly processed as reported purchasing organic products as conventional. In EAN-product is identified by GfK using information of cooperating retailers, price lists, and Internet searches, the eco-products. For some categories, the household panel raw data on which the ZMP access via the Internet, enriched with the identification of organic products. The ZMP validates the data against the special survey (research project 02OE367) and prepares them for an integrated reporting. Additional categories will be observed on the basis of ACNielsen retail panel in food retailing. A key factor in this will be the identification of organic products in packaged goods in the retail, because the bar code thereon (EAN) is a priori no differentiation in organic and conventionally possible. To identify the corresponding group on bio-products, are next to price lists and trade information about 80 samples shops visited and classified all the products considered Category in organic products and conventional products. ACNielsen is a quarterly report on volumes, costs, prices and distribution of the respective commodity groups and their sub-segments by region and shopping centers. Further investigations carried out by the Commercial Panel of bioVista, to identify the products, the product database of Ökoinform used. The ZMP organizes the process, the interaction of the data, taking into account the results from the previous project. In addition, methods for identification of organic products are developed and applied on the basis of pricing, which are underrepresented in the GfK panel health food store customers extrapolated to a realistic level.
