Purpose of research: Basic research
According to Regulation (EEC) No 2092/91 organic foods natural flavors are allowed. These may contain ingredients and additives that are not classified as a bio-compliant. The use of these natural flavors in organic food is so controversial, and the demand for 'green flavor' is increasing. However, there is still no uniform definition of what organic flavors are accurate. In this project, should a policy be developed for eco-flavors, which forms the basis for consistent production of natural flavors and certified organic. This is a public perception of organic flavors are defined, which is used to fill the currently prevailing legal vacuum on the manufacture and composition of organic flavors. In particular, the points title, definition, production, packaging and labeling are defined so that there is a uniform certification standard in Germany and the EU. It should be clarified, what ingredients are allowed by the German flavor regulation in natural flavors come to flavored organic food in question and as ingredients for organic flavors would be permitted. The results of this project is to be published in two workshops and in publications in various journals of the Association of eco-organizations and the media release of the certification authorities and the German Association of the flavor industry.
