Managing the low sensitivity of codling moth against the codling moth
Project
Project code: 2805OE0232
Contract period: 01.01.2006
- 28.02.2010
Budget: 135,091 Euro
Purpose of research: Applied research
The codling moth (Cydia pomonella granulovirus, CpGV) is one of the most important control of the codling moth in organic apple growing dar. Since 2003, increasingly single codling moth populations observed, which have a factor of 1000 lower susceptibility to virus preparations and practically with the virus can not be controlled . A spread of this phenomenon is a severe threat to the efficient control of the codling moth in organic farming developed around a further spread of the phenomenon to avoid, to targeted population genetic studies of codling moth populations in Germany are carried out and their basic sensitivity to the CpGV are investigated. In addition, the genetic and biological mechanisms are elucidated the reduced sensitivity of the codling moth against CpGV. These crossing experiments between susceptible and less susceptible to be performed codling moth populations. Based on the results should be developed with affected commercial farms strategies that prevent the spread of the phenomenon and help enable the successful and sustainable use of CpGV preparations.
