Purpose of research: Networks and research co-ordination
The aim of the project is a vulnerability assessment of the growing concepts of organic fruit growing and the development of short-and long-term realizable sound and practical policy approaches for the optimization of these concepts in close contact between working farms, consulting, applied research and basic research as well as subject-specific experts. This will be achieved, the optimal integration of all ongoing work on individual issues of production technology in the development of a practice-oriented overall concept for organic fruit growing. The increased handling of related matters in federal and state research institutes, universities and colleges should be promoted, and therefore the competence to organic orchards can be improved at these institutions. Means for this are the inclusion in the technical discussions, the creation of a discussion forum for ongoing development of organic fruit growing, a rapid and practical project identification, when new proposals are made for optimizing the production concept, a rapid and smooth implementation of innovations developed in the field of production technology and a ongoing exchange of new information on organic fruit growing. This will also give optimum entry opportunities for managers, consultants and experimenter, dealing first with the organic production method. This is initiated by means of two 'Kick-off' events and specified in additional, ongoing workshops.
